Welcome!

Engagement as a Time of Transformation

Transformation can bring uncertainty, fear, doubt, anger, grief, and sadness.

Uncomfortable feelings are natural and expected – even good!

As a Wedding Doula I support people to embrace these feelings and find their own path to calm, grounded, happiness.

Engagement not what you expected?

I, and millions of other women, have been in your shoes

You are Not Alone!

Weddings are a Right of Passage

Have you ever considered how many rites of passage are wrapped up in a wedding?

For maximum joy and minimal stress, open your heart and embrace it.

Identity – ‘I’ becomes ‘We’

Weddings represent a massive change in your identity. It is a separation from your nuclear family the creation of a brand new one.

With this change comes all sorts of emotions that are perfectly normal and natural for this huge life change.

Family

Weddings celebrate the union of two families and the birth of a new one.

This new family – your family – is part of, and unique from, the nuclear families that are giving you away.

All members of the families involved may have joyous and melancholy emotions. This is natural. Having a safe place to express these emotions is one way a wedding doula can help.

Community

Many folks are lucky to have the support of the their friends and family during their engagement.

These are the people we have learned to trust and lean upon during challenging times.

However, the ones closest to us are not always the best support as we prepare for marriage.

Our friends and family have their own emotions they are processing and may not understand or be available to hear your worries and woes.

With a wedding doula, you can speak your mind without worrying about hurting anyone’s feelings.

“I was so thankful for my doula’s [Kate’s] presence. She was someone I could be real with (not the perfect, gracious bride if I didn’t want to be), and someone whose sweet, calm energy gave me confidence everything was going to work out!”
